During Wednesday night’s basketball game, fans in the Pomona-Pitzer student section passed around a sheet of paper containing a list of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps players, their numbers, the names of their family members, and personal, embarrassing, and in many cases blatantly fabricated information. A photo of the sheet was taken at the game and tweeted. An anonymous source leaked the photo to the Port Side.
Before publishing this photo, we contacted both CMS Coach Ken Scalmanini and PP Coach Charles Katsiaficas. Neither coach wanted to comment on the record.
The Port Side is not comfortable posting the photo of the sheet as it appeared originally. To protect the CMS players, we have blacked out their names, numbers, and any information that could reveal their identities.
It is unfortunate that students of the Claremont Colleges could resort to such immature and reputation-damaging tactics. This isn’t Mean Girls. We are supposed to be an intellectual community that promotes thoughtful discourse, an open exchange of ideas, and fair competition. We must hold ourselves to this same standard, even during our heated athletic events.
We hope that publicizing this does not provoke a backlash or any attempts at retribution. Rather, we hope that it will spark a meaningful discussion on both sides of Sixth Street about the more destructive side of our rivalry.

This article lacks a whole lot of impact because of your decisive censorship. Perhaps just the players’ names should have been blacked out.
