With the impending announcement about changes to the Motley’s sustainability policies just a day away, it seems appropriate to share a few observations on the coffee trade. Oh, and Tuesday was National Coffee Day!

It’s problematic that each cup of coffee (the world’s second-largest commodity after oil) is accused of destroying 3 cm^3 of rainforest. The living conditions of the growers aren’t that spectacular either, and most struggle to earn enough to eat. What can caffeine addicts do?
